This Website is now (fully a)live.

(updates still appear here, at least for the time being)

I started this little ‘project’ at the turn of the year (2023!), following a dinner/encounter. Starting to go to gigs again had made me check my old website (miraculously still around) a few times in the previous year. Also a lot of the music posted over social media, occasionally linking photos, and the idea of making music again, there were lots of parameters that made me want to continue/restart the website I used to maintain. Things slowly took shape, and in the slightly messy way that is mine (I gather ingredients, never know when is enough and finally manage to get everything more or less in a coherent order even though the way I go from A to Z is usually not very linear so I’m not always easy to follow…), I populated all the pages I had planned one by one.

You can see the intentions from the initial page on the site, and I think I pretty much somehow stuck to the plan. Some days I had to force myself a bit, but it is a good effort to make and a few times, just writing these pages allowed me to not let myself down.

You can argue whether this is a vanity project or not, but the original idea was really just to share the music I like (and a bit of that I made), because I was feeling so passionate about it. Sure, I do realise I am unlikely to touch many people there, especially in the world of social media and instant gratification. But ‘sharing’ was a word I liked. In fact, because someone I pointed my old website to just to show the music I had made in the past, said ‘thanks for sharing’, and I somehow realised how much of an important word it was. I didn’t expect that, but I felt thankful for those kind words expressing gratitude. Anyway, yes I digress, but from there came the idea that this website should be about sharing. In the end, I essentially only share my tastes, and autobiographical links, but it’s always the idea that these things I love, someone else might appreciate them, be they poems, books, music, or places to visit. So I broadened the idea beyond just the gigs reviews and music.

This also leads me to the other idea that is unlikely to happen now in 2023 but appeals. To have ‘guest’ reviews. Write-up from other people sharing their favourite books/films/series/concerts/tunes. I was/am (if there is source material) considering doing a specific Guests Reviews page or integrating it into each section. This will probably just remain an idea, though it’s one I like in my idealistic world. So, feel free to send me anything you would like to share for publication. In a way, it’s because I’d like people to recommend things for others as well as for me (for which direct contact is what I prefer, something I didn’t always understand, but the virtual life isn’t really for me after all, yet we don’t always get the chance to meet all the time).

Going forward, on top of the gig reviews (pretty much the only page that will still require regular updates), I will try to just write a kind of weekly (ish, no commitment and I don’t aim to be clockwork) ‘blog’ page for a while, in the ‘blogs-ish’ section. I have many ideas, sure again they are mostly things that define my thinking. There’s about ten or so topics I already have in mind. Content not completely defined, but the idea to find oneself through writing….hmm, I think most of the conclusions have been drawn recently, so I have a better idea now so it is no longer just a process. Anyway…I ramble on, know what I mean but you might not. It could all come clear if/when you read. If you have that patience, thank you.
