USA (New York/Boston) – July 2008

First (out of only two so far) trips to the US. I have many photos, hopefully managed to just cut down to a decent selection. Was just there for training really but about two or three weeks so lots of time for NY/NJ tourism, meeting mates (bit of a mad night with Stéphane aka danks before waking up at dawn while still dizzy from the night before, to watch the Arsenal in a pub in town), driving to Boston (in appalling weather conditions, it was a bit scary) to see another mate. Had a great time. Also with the trains themselves being air conditioned, there was a heat wave and the subway stations felt like the hottest place I had ever been to at the time (Dubai included).

I was chuffed to get a Ford Mustang, felt like I was living the American Dream. Driving there from Newark to New Providence, just remember the feeling when crossing a railtrack (weird bump) while listening to Bright Eyes’Gold Mine Gutted. America, maaaan!

19th of July: a boat trip (thanks George from work for all the touristy recommendations)

20th of July: a little trip downtown to Southstreet Seaport, a walk along with danks and a visit through Fifth Avenue

25th of July. A trip up the GE Building (Rockefeller Center) with Gaz and Levanah, followed by a nice visit of Central Park. Enjoyed a gondola ride on the lake with the Italian family tales from the gondolier.

26th/27th of July: a little weekend in Boston/Cambridge to catch up with Ragav.

29th of July: decided to venture a little further deeper South in New Jersey for my last day out. So I ended up in Asbury Park, as a kind of homage to Bruce Springsteen.
