Well, I am afraid I don’t have much to post, so just a couple of nice photos. It was a work trip, but also an opportunity to catch up on a couple of ex-colleagues. Both recently left the company (though one should come back through mergers and acquisitions…), one I was working with until recently, the other I used to work with years ago and who was also actually a neighbour in Bourg-La-Reine and I hadn’t seen in years. As bad timing would have it, Arsenal were playing in Bergamo only a week later…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately (for this page anyway), not being on my own means I felt taking photos wasn’t quite the right thing to do, as I preferred to enjoy present company. More text than photos is a poor show, but I quite like a couple of the photos so I thought I’d share them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was meant to go to Bergamo a couple of summers ago in the context of a similar work trip that got cancelled at the last minute, so here was another opportunity, although work timings and flights meant I could only spend one evening there, so I went to visit Olivo and his family who gave me the historical tour. I had been twice before, but I never had the historical explanations, so it was very nice cultural enrichment, especially on the Piazza Vecchia I had not visited fully before though I’d walked by. We ended up having hot chocolate in La Marianna, where Stracciatella Ice cream was invented while the heavens open. The drive back to Vimercate under the thunderstorm was very unpleasant\/dangerous at the start even at slow speed. The motorways there are not built for that sort of weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s just a couple of photos from the entrance of Citta Alta. That second photo is the same place as the back cover of the RHG album…maybe a snap I could use for a follow up to signify the evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next evening, Luca drove me to a nice place to have dinner (excellent Bucatini All’Amatriciana, I heartily recommend Friccico Hostaria Romana<\/a> in Biassono), and then for a little walk around Monza. There’s a lot of nice churches around, but for the reasons mentioned above, I just took a picture of the stunning Duomo. It’s not the one in Milano, but it’s impressive all the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
