An even shorter work trip, but somehow all went well, so I found myself with, essentially, a free afternoon. I probably could\/should have found the time to also explore the little hill on Williamson Park with the monument overlooking the town for greater views; I think I might have managed before sunset, but this was so improvised and in the end I went back to the hotel room to do a little work (after all, I was being paid for that) instead. So really, I just did a little walk around the castle and city centre, which were both within very short walking range from the hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To start with, I would recommend The Sun Hotel&Bar. Bit of a boutique hotel in lovely historical building, so a little on the pricey side for the location(though authorised by work), but ideally located (and fairly ideally for me within a half an hour walk to the TNP office and ten minutes from the station – thankfully slow but improving recovery meant I could actually walk half an hour at a time with barely any pain, something that was impossible just two weeks earlier). Decently sized room, comfortable and well furnished. The food downstairs was rather good (only had the Fish&Chips on the first evening), and the locally brewed beer rather tasty and cheap (\u00a34.55 a pint, again, I haven’t sampled the whole range, but the Lancaster Amber I had was excellent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway, so here’s a photo from the chandelier on the roof of my room (why not?), followed by photos from the Priory and the Castle. And that is really all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
